International
Rose of Tralee Festival
Goes Live!
This year Tralee is providing ways for us to
experience here in Texas what is happening in Tralee.
-
Tralee Live (www.traleelive.ie) , a closed-circuit sound
system comprising around 18 loudspeakers is positioned in Tralee town centre
allowing the 'broadcasting' of music, information and commentary to inform,
entertain and generally embellish local events and attractions.
-
In addition, RTE, Ireland's Public
Service Broadcaster, will be broadcasting the Selection Nights live over the
internet. The selection nights are Monday and Tuesday, August 21st
and 22nd. They begin at 8 p.m. in Ireland (2 p.m. CST). To view
the selection nights, go to
www.rte.ie/rose06. They have instructions
on their sight about how to get the video on your monitor.

Texas Rose of Tralee launches new Website
Effective
August 14 the Texas Rose of Tralee has launched it’s new website. It is still
at the same address
www.texasroseoftralee.org.
The new site attempts to provide more information about the organization and
activities. Be patient while we work out the kinds as we are sure there are
some. In the meantime, if you have any comments or suggestions, please
feel free to share them with us at
txrotnews@comcast.net. We would love to
hear from you.
Champagne Send Off
A Champagne Send Off Party was held Sunday, July 31 for the Rose, her
family and friends. Erin presented a song to those in attendance that she
will sing in Tralee. Erin was presented with a book of personal
letters from most of the past Texas Roses to inspire her on her trip.
The Irish American Society - Dallas presented Erin a check in the amount of
$1,500 to help cover her expenses. The money was made at a recent Wine and
Roses reception held by the IAS where they raffled items. Click on the
pictures below to see a pictures from each of the events.
